No gentle breeze to stir the leaves
that hang in lonely silence.
No single sign to indicate
another being’s presence.
A sadness lingers in my eyes,
an aura of despair
hangs like a cloud engulfing me,
my soul in disrepair.
A movement then I barely felt,
just sensed unspoken word.
At first I wondered whence it came
and what it was I heard.
My guardian angel I knew was there.
I cringed and then I winced.
I knew the message that she sent
What it would be I sensed.
“Just look around at all the folk
whose needs are more distressing.
Then at yourself take one good look,
then start to count your blessings.”
