A STRENGTH PREVAILS WITHIN

In any mirror he may look,
wherever he may be,
he asks that figure staring back,
“Could you be really me?”

The shoulders are a little stooped,
He doesn’t seem as tall.
His step appears unsteady, and
there’s chance that he mght fall.

The  crinkled wrinkles on his face
are signs of stress and strain.
But as his  years exceed four score,
he’s learned to manage pain.

The wrinkles and the roughened skin
are proof he has survived.
Through obstacles of aging life
he safely has arrived.

And though the outer shell sustains
A slow but sure decay
He counts the many blessings he
encounters day to day.

Despite a constant weakening shell,
an inner strength he bears.
The spiritual form encased within
is nourished by faith and prayers.

So with this strength provided him,
fortified by love and hope,
With any problem he may face,
He can forever cope.
