What does Easter mean to you? Boys and girls and bunnies with candy, Easter baskets all wrapped up too, Lush green lawns, with things out of view. IS THIS WHAT EASTER MEANS TO YOU? When I was a child, a brand new frock to attire With shiny new Sunday slippers, hat and gloves Was your outfit the prettiest one to desire, In your quest to make a show for God above. IS THIS WHAT EASTER MEANS TO YOU? As I grew older, I learned about a story so rare How a man who was innocent, had to die on a cross. Why should someone so long ago, be willing to bear A very heavy load of sin and shame, and suffer such loss. IS THIS WHAT EASTER MEANS TO YOU? Now I know exactly why my lord had to take the blame A man who walked upon this earth, and talked about His Father Born of a virgin, living among men, spent all His days to proclaim Of the marvelous gift of God’s grace and mercy, to become a martyr. IS THIS WHAT EASTER MEANS TO YOU? Each year approaching the celebration of His gift to man Brings on feelings of passion so great, it is hard to conceive That He would be crucified on a tree, to give us new life again. And to all that hath breathe, need only to believe and receive. IS THIS WHAT EASTER MEANS TO YOU? Tis’ the greatest gift that mankind will ever know If there ever was a time to grasp the answer to the query It is right now, in this day of war, strife, hunger and woes, Lift up your eyes, and see through His, not through theory.
