CARETAKER OF THE SEA
A job of great importance,
it always use to be.
Being ready for performance
As the caretaker of the sea.

Oh, the old days were grand
A major undertaking for any man.
To walk around the great tower
Being sure no one needed its power.

Away from your family for days,
While tending your duties at sea.
Making sure not one stranded
boat or ship,
Would end up history.

Taking turns with others who watched,
Someone was there around the
clock.
In case the need for lives to spare,
This great old lighthouse it seems, has always stood there.

It's walls have been battered and bashed,
By the giant waves the sea would send in.
To crash on the rocks below,
it's marks were left within.

If these old walls could talk,
what a tale it would be,
Of stranded sailors, pirates even, lost upon this sea.

For now it's just a symbol standing there,
With lots of love and stories,
who have lived within its walls.

A towering monument so tall and brave,
The beacon for many it has saved.
A worthy icon to preserve and keep,
For those who lives was saved
upon the deep.
