The landscape glistens in the full moon With ice covered branches in display. Trees look like crystal umbrellas in flume As the cold air penetrates all the way.
Visions of sculptures are seen in array From water fountain sprays reaching down. The glass covered twigs are frozen in their sway, As the moon beams reflect them to the ground.
What a beautiful portrait of fragments of light Scattered all around like prisms of color. Into the night sky they are silent and bright Against the canvas they shadow each other.
What a beautiful scene as from my window I see Ice covered objects all around the yard. I can imagine a show of theatrical scenes And actors are not even trying hard.
The winter is here, and that's for sure With artic air all around the globe it seems. Traffic stuck in drifted snow driven pure While plows are out trying to clear the scene.
It's almost the beginning of a new year, And already we have great stories to tell Of the ending of Holidays and cheer And perhaps the greatest snowfall as well.
Well hopefully the ice will be gone But alas the beauty it gave will disappear Into the landscape it will go on Seeping in the earth running clear.
What will the new year bring More storms that make records appear Or perhaps an earlier Spring So green and flowers will soon begin to rear.
