The old man looked dejected,
And he slowly shook his head.
"I've sought to meet God everywhere,
Met only failure instead.
"I've searched for him on mountain heights,
On blazing desert sands,
I've toured the country east to west
And many foreign lands.
"But all of my efforts were in vain,
No trace where God can be.
He's not in any place I've looked.
I fear he's eluded me."
A wise man who was with him spoke
When he sensed his troubled soul.
"You must use heart, not intellect
If finding God's your goal.
God can be found in every place
You've looked for him to be,
But you won't find him anywhere
By seeking externally."
"It is here you seek God's presence,
Which is sought not with your mind.
With spiritual, not the secular ---
Just see and you will find.
For once you're in God's presence,
Your faith will not grow weak.
And you will find God any time,
In any place you seek."
