THERE'S A ROAD THAT'S SET BEFORE ME
There's a road that's set before me that I must walk upon.
Most days my heart is soaring and on my lips a song.
It's almost if I'm floating, that I hardly touch the ground.
I hear the rush of angel wings as I as homeward bound.

And by this road I spread some seeds as I travel there,
Some will grow and some will die among the thorny snares
I stop and look behind me and many plants I see,
Someone has watered the seeds that were planted there by me!

Then I turn and walk along and the road begins to rise,
The road is straight but rocky and reaches to the sky!
I see a mountain before me and inside I feel a chill,
My heart soon fills with sorrow, almost against my will.

The day has turned to night now and the road is hard to see,
I feel alone and wonder if there's no one here but me.
Still I keep on walking because I know I have no choice,
Then far ahead I see a light and now I hear a voice!

"Keep walking, my little child for I am here with you,
I said I'd never leave you, these words are still true.
You've been going through sorrow as all my children must,
For this will make you stronger and teach you how to trust.

I put you on this road of life the day that you were born.
Some days you would be singing, some days you would mourn.
You have stumbled and you have fallen upon this narrow way,
But I helped you when you called me, I hear you when you pray."

I listen to the blessed words my Savior speaks to me,
And the chill inside my heart is gone as His face I see.
I wipe my tears and start to sing a song that will never end,
A song about a rugged cross, His love and forgiven sin.

I will always walk upon this road until my life is done,
I will spread the seeds along the way until my battles's won. How long I walk upon this road is not for me to know,
At the end of the road He's waiting and down the road I go.
