| EXODUS TO TRUTH The Israelites were slaves in Egypt's land In bondage they were placed at Pharaoh's command. God wanted Him to let His people go, So He enlisted Moses to carry out His plan. It had been four hundred years since Joseph died, And his people were enslaved and barely alive. God asked Moses to lead his children out And explained to him about the perfect route. Through the Red Sea, you will march them across And all of Pharaoh's men who follow will be lost. Into the wilderness the Israelites arrived God provided food and a place for their spiritual lives. Yet they were offended, complained and asked why? Why have you brought us to this place, desolate and dry. At least in Egypt, we had food and a place to lay down Here in the desert it is hot and there's nothing around. God had decided it was time to set up some laws, Commandments to follow by one and all. He sent Moses up to Mount Sinai to give him the list Now these are for right living, if you disobey you're amiss. God's law system consisted of three parts, The ten Commandments were the first to impart Civil law was the second, rules to manage their lives, Ceremonial was the third, a worship place to abide. God founded the nation of Israel to be a witness A source of truth and salvation to all who would listen. His relationship to His people was loving, yet firm, His desire was for them to be trusting and give concern. The EXODUS TO TRUTH had finally begun And the laws had been engraved to become The way of life for the Israelites of old, A stepping stone to grace and mercy bold. Written By Shirley Barr January 2, 2005 All Rights Reserved Psalm 103: 1 ~ 8 BLESSED The Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. |
