We see menacing specters of doomsday and gloom
and the hate that encompasses earth.
There’s abundance of apathy, fear and despair,
but of love there seems naught but a dearth.
But deep is the faith that I have in my God,
and I know that it never will fail.
In the struggle eternal ‘twixt evil and good,
the forces of good will prevail.
When I am awake at the break of each day,
I listen to birds sweetly singing,
and then from a distance afar come the sounds
of bells with a sonorous ringing.
I feel a light breeze as it rustles the leaves,
and I can see tree branches sway.
I watch the soft rays of a fast rising sun
bring forth and announce a new day.
As soft snow is falling on high mountain peaks,
dew sparkles on new dampened grass.
In the valley with colorful flowers abloom,
deer seem to appear there en masse.
When church bells begin to peal joyful chimes,
it’s the music of freedom I hear,
and then when I sense a great aura of peace,
I know that God’s presence is near.
Goodness is strongest whene’er God is near,
and Evil is conquered by Love.
and blended by faith is the hardness of steel
with the gentle soft touch of a dove.
